Following a trip to Old Forge in1999, Michael Cooper formed a atv run from Mr. Willy's in Monticello to the Ruff Cut in Fosterdale. Approx. 100 riders showed up and raised $900 for charity. The ride was a success and many people showed an interest in doing another run. The second and 3rd runs raised over $5000 each for charity and brought 350 riders to the area. After seeing that the ride was expanding, The Sullivan County ATV Association was formed in 2001 as a nonprofit group and The run was moved to the Monticello raceway for the 3rd and 4th runs. Still gaining popularity in the ATV Community, The association held the 5th event at the Gerry Foundations Griedman fields property near the Woodstock site on 17b. Lunch was provided at the Eldred Preserve. They were scared but the Organization and friendly attitudes that the atvers showed impressed the socks off them. 540 riders participated and raised over $18000 for children in the county. The last 2 years We have been welcomed back to Eldred Preserve and have had lunch At Fosterdale Auto Sales in Fosterdale and Hectors in Bethel. Both runs were awesome and raised over $20,000 for the kids. Since 1999 the Sullivan County ATV Association has become a well known and welcomed group in the county. In the years since our 1999 First run Our Association has been able to donated over $90,000 directly to Families in Sullivan County with children who have life threatening illnesses. With help from the ATV community we will continue to flourish and raise money for our counties children.
